About the SHOT Show

The SHOT Show, short for Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show, is the annual trade show of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association of the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry. NSSF was founded in 1961, and the first SHOT Show was held in 1979. Today it fills a convention center in Las Vegas each January.

The show is not open to the public. Attendees are manufacturers, retailers, distributors, range operators, outdoor media and law enforcement and military buyers. Thousands of exhibitors launch products for the year, and many companies plan their whole marketing calendar around the show.

Patches are part of the culture of this crowd. Morale patches on hook-and-loop backing are worn on range bags, packs and caps, collected and traded, and a good booth patch can draw a line. Brands also use patches as a cheap, durable way to put their mark on gear, which is why many exhibitors order PVC and embroidered giveaways months before the show.
