The trade-off is twofold: a less dramatic visual impact at a distance, and a hard ceiling of seven colors. The loom carries a fixed set of colored weft threads, so unlike embroidery - which carries up to twenty threads - an eighth color on a woven patch is not something that can be made. Designs above seven colors go to embroidered, or to printed if they need gradients. For designs requiring small text, thin lines, or photographic-level detail within that palette, woven is the correct technical choice.
