It is rarely a constraint in practice, because woven is chosen for fine text and tight typography rather than for broad palettes, but it is worth knowing before you commit a broad-palette brand illustration to woven. If your design needs more colors, embroidered includes 10 and sells more beyond that, and printed/sublimated is unlimited.
For PVC patches, color limits are less restrictive. Each color layer is a separate pour of pigmented silicone, and designs with 10–20 distinct areas are standard. Very gradual transitions are still difficult in PVC, but distinct color fills can be very precise.
