Can patches be made to match specific Pantone or brand colors?

💡
Quick Answer

Yes - we match thread colors to Pantone references and provide thread-to-Pantone correspondence at the proof stage for approval.

Matching brand colors is a common requirement for corporate, organizational, and professional patch orders. We work from Pantone Matching System (PMS) references for embroidered patches, matching your specified Pantone color to the closest available thread from our standard Madeira and Robison-Anton thread libraries.

Most Pantone colors can be matched very closely. Thread color libraries contain thousands of options and the match accuracy is generally excellent under standard lighting conditions. At the proof stage, we'll provide the thread color codes we're using and their Pantone equivalents for your approval before production begins.

The most challenging colors to match in embroidery are highly saturated neons, certain metallics (true gold and silver threads are available but behave differently from standard colors), and colors in the brown-orange spectrum where thread options are slightly less varied. If you have a critical color that must be exact, ordering a thread sample before the full production run is available.

PVC patches offer somewhat different color behavior. Pigments in silicone rubber can produce very vivid colors, but the curing process can shift hues slightly from the raw pigment color. PVC is typically matched to your design file colors rather than Pantone, and a color approval stage is standard for PVC orders.

For brand-critical patch programs - a police shoulder patch, a corporate uniform badge, a licensed character patch - we recommend specifying your Pantone colors explicitly when submitting your design. Parker can accept Pantone color specifications in the design conversation and pass them through to the expert review team for exact matching.
