Design vs Production

What your design looks like in PVC rubber

PVC is moulded rubber, not thread. Edges come out sharper than any stitched patch, but every colour is a separate poured area, so the design gets flattened into clean, deliberate shapes.

What comes through

  • Edges are sharper and more exact than anything thread can do
  • Colours are mixed to spec and stay dead flat across the whole run
  • Raised 3D areas can add depth the preview did not even show

What changes

  • Photographic shading and gradients become flat colour zones
  • Fine internal detail is merged into the nearest shape — each area needs a wall between it and its neighbour
  • The finished patch has a rubber sheen the preview does not show

PVC / Rubber limits, in numbers

These are the physical floors of the process. Anything in a design below them is thickened, merged or dropped — which is the single biggest reason a produced patch differs from a preview.

Colours
Practical max ~8
Each is a separately poured area.
Smallest legible text
About 0.2"
Raised text needs more room than flat.
Thinnest line
About 0.8mm
Thinner walls will not release from the mould.
Gradients
Not available
Flat zones only — by design.
What this means for your designPVC needs a mould cut before a single patch exists, which is why the minimum is 100 and why samples are not offered. Expect a proof of the flattened artwork before tooling starts.

Common questions

Will my pvc / rubber patch look exactly like the AI design?

PVC is moulded rubber, not thread. Edges come out sharper than any stitched patch, but every colour is a separate poured area, so the design gets flattened into clean, deliberate shapes. Our team redraws every design for production and you approve that artwork before anything is manufactured.

How many colours can a pvc / rubber patch have?

Practical max ~8. Each is a separately poured area.

What is the smallest text that works on a pvc / rubber patch?

About 0.2". Raised text needs more room than flat.

Can a pvc / rubber patch reproduce a gradient?

Not available. Flat zones only — by design.
