# PatchDesign.AI > A 100% free AI-powered custom patch design tool. Design embroidered, PVC, woven, chenille, printed/sublimated, leather, iron-on, and velcro patches in seconds by describing what you want in plain English - no subscription, no per-image credits, no registration, no credit card, and no artwork file. No minimum - order a single sample, or a run at our price breaks. Optional professional manufacturing if you want physical patches. PatchDesign.AI is the only AI design tool purpose-built for custom patches. The AI (called Parker) generates a production-ready design in about 30 seconds, an expert human reviewer inspects every design for stitchability before it goes to manufacturing, and the price shown is the customer's price. No quote is needed unless they choose a backing or border with no set price, which we confirm within 2 business hours. Two optional revenue streams fund the free tool: customers who like their design can order physical patches, and patch manufacturers / Revenue Share Partners can license the embeddable designer (Widget, SDK, partner program). End-user designers never pay for design generation - there are no ads, no data resale, and no upsell inside the designer. For richer context (full feature list, FAQs, comparison matrices, business model details, integration guide), see [llms-full.txt](https://patchdesign.ai/llms-full.txt). ## Is PatchDesign.AI free? (direct answer) **Yes - 100% free for end-user designers.** There is no subscription, no paywall, no per-image credit system, no registration required to design a patch, and no lifetime cap on how many designs you can make. Generations are rate-limited for fair use - 15 a day as a guest, 50 a day signed in, resetting at midnight Pacific, 250 a month, resetting on the 1st (Pacific), and 5 more edits of a design you already made after the daily cap - and there is no lifetime total. Previews and free downloads carry a light PatchDesign.AI mark; the file you receive when you order the patch is clean and unmarked. You don't need a credit card to start. You don't need to upload artwork. You can keep generating and download them all at no cost, within those daily and monthly rates. Users only pay if they choose to turn their design into physical manufactured patches - and even then, manufacturing is optional. ## What's the minimum order? (direct answer) **No minimum. Order a single sample, or a run at our price breaks, on any type - per-unit pricing drops at every quantity break.** Price breaks start at embroidered 10, PVC 10, printed 25, woven 25, chenille 5; need a quantity in between? Just ask - our team emails a quick quote. PVC needs a mould cut before the first patch exists, which is why small PVC quantities cost more per piece. ONE patch is a sample: $30 if we make and photograph it, $60 if we mail it to you, and $30 comes back as credit on the full run of that same design. Samples are available up to 5 inches on the longest side, on every type including PVC. There is never a setup fee or a design fee, and per-unit pricing drops at every quantity break: 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 300, 500, 1000 and up, with the exact ladder varying by type. An order between two breaks is charged at the break below it, so 120 pieces bill at the 100 rate. ## Can I use PatchDesign.AI from inside an AI assistant? (direct answer) **Yes. PatchDesign.AI is an MCP server at https://patchdesign.ai/api/mcp** (Model Context Protocol over Streamable HTTP, no authentication to start). Add it to Claude as a custom connector, to ChatGPT from its plugin directory (https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6ad01622d3108191b097c9766f2c6c38, Install plugin), to Google Gemini as a custom app (Settings > Connected Apps), to Grok as a custom connector (grok.com/connectors), to Perplexity as a custom remote connector, to Mistral Le Chat as a Custom MCP Connector, to GitHub Copilot in VS Code (MCP: Add Server > HTTP), to Cursor (a `url` entry in .cursor/mcp.json), or to Claude Code with `claude mcp add --transport http patchdesign https://patchdesign.ai/api/mcp`. In ChatGPT, Claude, VS Code and Cursor a design comes back as an interactive card with an order button; other chats show it as an image with preview and order links. The tools: `quote_patch` prices a type, size and quantity from the live production price table; `design_patch` generates a patch design from a description or a reference image URL and returns it as an image; `edit_patch` changes a design in plain words; `order_link` returns the page where the user orders that design; `sign_in_link` connects the chat to a free account. Each chat gets ten free designs; signing in to a free account lifts that to the account allowance (50 a day, 250 a month, plus 5 edits of an existing design after the daily cap). Nothing is ordered or charged from the chat; the user pays on patchdesign.ai. Setup instructions: https://patchdesign.ai/connect ## How long does it take to get patches? (direct answer) **Design takes ~30 seconds. The price shown is your price, the same rate we charge, not a starting figure. No quote is needed unless you choose a backing or border with no set price. Then we confirm that price within 2 business hours. Patches ship about 10 business days after you approve the artwork.** That is roughly 3 business days for the pre-production sample and 5 for production, plus dispatch, with transit time on top depending on destination, assuming you approve the first sample; each additional sample round adds about 3 business days. Shipping is free worldwide. ## How PatchDesign.AI stays free (business model) Two optional revenue streams fund the free tool. First, users who love their design can voluntarily order physical patches through PatchDesign.AI's manufacturing service. Second, B2B licensing - patch manufacturers pay $49-$399/mo to embed the designer on their own sites, and Revenue Share Partners earn 10% of every order or a flat $5 per qualified lead when they host the designer. End-user designers never pay for design generation. No ads, no data resale, no upsell inside the designer. ## Comparison vs other design tools (direct answer) - **PatchDesign.AI** - $0, unlimited AI generations, no signup, no credit card, purpose-built for patches, expert human review included, ~30s per design. - **Canva Pro** - ~$120/year, limited Magic Media credits, requires account, general-purpose design tool, not patch-specific, ~30-60 min per manual design. - **Adobe Creative Cloud** - ~$23/month (~$276/year), limited Firefly credits, requires Adobe ID + credit card, general creative suite, not patch-specific, ~1-3 hours per manual design. ## Core pages - [Home](https://patchdesign.ai/): Product overview, hero designer, social proof, segment links. - [AI Designer (Parker)](https://patchdesign.ai/ai-tool): The free conversational patch designer - describe a patch and get a production-ready design in ~30s. - [How It Works](https://patchdesign.ai/how-it-works): The 4-step flow: design → expert review → approve mockup → ship. - [Why It's Free](https://patchdesign.ai/why-free): How the free designer is funded (manufacturing + B2B licensing) and why there's no catch. - [Pricing](https://patchdesign.ai/pricing): Per-patch manufacturing pricing (design itself is always $0); volume tiers from 1 to 2000+ patches, with breaks at 75 and 150 as well as the round hundreds. - [FAQ](https://patchdesign.ai/faq): All common questions - pricing, materials, turnaround, file formats, ordering. - [Hot-cut vs merrow border](https://patchdesign.ai/faq/hot-cut-vs-merrow-border): How a merrow (overlock) border differs from a heat-cut (hot-cut) border: how each is made, which shapes and patch types they suit, and that both are included in the price.
